Pair of Italian Engravings of Meekness & Justice Circa 1900

Pair of Italian Engravings of Meekness & Justice Circa 1900

Two Prints from the collection of engravings first produced by the Scottish Printer Robert Strange as early as 1761. The two lesser known virtues represented are close studies of two painted figures found in the papal apartments within the Hall of Constantine at the Vatican. Coincidentally, as late as 2015, these two figures have only recently been attributed to the master Renaissance artists, Raphael, and may have in fact been his last paintings before his death in 1520.
